🌿 FEBRUARY 2026
Staying informed helps older adults remain active voices in our communities. This month’s update includes important conversations about health care reform, housing stability, and civic engagement opportunities for seniors across Minnesota.
🏥 Health Care Reform
Health Care for All Minnesota (HCA-MN) is an organization which advocates for affordable, high-quality health care for every Minnesotan.
One item they are working on is Patient-Centered Care – Direct Provider Payment system. Under this model, payments for medical services would go directly to providers instead of through managed care organizations like HMOs.
Advocates estimate this change could save about $1 billion annually while simplifying the system for patients and providers.
🏠 Housing Support for Minnesota Residents
The Minnesota Housing Partnership coalition is working on the ERASE campaign, which is advocating for $40 million in Emergency Rental Assistance Aid.
There are currently 2 bills moving through the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives. We will keep you updated on their progress.
Residents who support continued rental assistance are encouraged to contact their state representatives.
☑️Voter Registration Drive
All Elders For Justice is supporting The 50+ Group, formerly part of Open Access Connection, and will organize a voter registration drive later this summer to help encourage civic participation among older adults.
